Emotional intelligence consists of skills learned throughout our lifetime, skills that you can improve whenever you are ready to do so. If an important area of your life isn't working, a competent and caring guide can foster your understanding of how you make choices. When you view your life with expanded awareness, you have more options to choose from.
I assist individuals and groups in assessing their strengths, understanding their optimistic verses pessimistic cognitive styles and learning how to enhance motivation, performance and relationships by integrating this knowledge within interaction. A positive psychology approach includes understanding the components of emotional intelligence and building upon your existing knowledge and skills to improve effectiveness. Integration of mind/body techniques like relaxation, mindfulness and meditation can assist in this process. So can a focus on enhancing one's experience of pleasure, engagement and personal meaning as core components of well being, either individually or as part of a group or team.
Sometimes self understanding includes a re-working or resolution of the past.
Sometimes trauma must be overcome by confronting old fears in a safe environment. Sometimes we just want to be the best version of ourselves. But always we need to decide today to do things differently if who we are, what we're doing and where we're going isn't what we want.
